URGENT APPEAL FOR HONDURAS

URGENT APPEAL FOR HONDURAS

To the brotherhood of all the people of the world, to their social and political organizations sharing the ideal of a world free of injustices and inequities that mutilate the dreams of our societies, we ask you all to join the GREAT CAMPAIGN FOR THE PEOPLE OF HONDURAS.

On the 30th of July the General Assembly of the Organisation of American States will call a special meeting to deal with the “case of Honduras”. We know that the Department of State of the United States of America lobbied to pressure many countries to vote in favour of the reincorporation of HONDURAS without taking account of the fact that our people are confronting the conditions of the most brutal repression and human rights violations.

Until now, the extortions of the empire have succeeded in turning the representatives of 22 countries, while 9 are in opposition. The vote of Chile, which we can expect will be for forcing the reincorporation, is still hanging. Insulza has made a criminal agreement that means breaking the principle of consensus, and has lobbied in favour of the existing majority.

It is shameful that the governments of many countries have the audacity to sell out on our heroic people for a few more crumbs; in many cases, not even that.

For our campaign we ask all the citizens of the world with a sense of solidarity and in opposition to the injustices, the imperial plots against the people, and those who enjoy exercising brutal violence against their people with impunity, send electronic mail to the list of email addresses included below. This list gives access to each and every one of the Ambassadors before the Permanent Committee of the OAS.

Express your condemnation in any form you wish, everyone make their own choice, but let us all send these missives, there should be thousands of them, expressing our rejection of the prize they are serving up to the murderous coup-masters.

Two days ago, in declarations through the media, Enrique Ortez Colindres, Secretary of State for the Coup, Advisor to the Armed Forces of Honduras asserted, “… the military installed Micheletti and threw out Zelaya …”.  There is a saying that goes “… a partial confession is as good as proof”. There’s no need to look further for what is already evident; it was a military coup, justice must be administered for the deceased victims of the regime of Micheletti-Lobo Sosa, for president Zelaya, for the exiled, for the persecuted, and for all the people of Honduras.

We are depending on your solidarity. Remember that today in Honduras we are preventing what, by the contemptible actions of the OAS, could happen tomorrow in other countries.

Onward to success

Ricardo Arturo Salgado Bonilla.
